The Big Question: What are we doing and why?

In short the purpose of AAUSAT3 is to test the possibility of using a satellite to gather AIS signals from ships around Greenland. This mission has been proposed by the Royal Danish Administration of Navigation and Hydrography (RDANH).

Onboard the satellite there are several applications that need pointing accuracy:

Therefore an Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS) needs to be designed and implemented. This system will determine and control the orientation of the satellite while in orbit.
