History of the Branch

January 2007

In the 26th of January of 2007, the IEEE SB @ AAU has organized the 1st “Aalborg University Student Paper Contest 2007 (AISPC’07).” The event, taken place at Aalborg, aimed students pursuing a bachelor or master degree and studying one of the interest fields of IEEE. The technical conference counted with 55 paper submissions from more than 10 different countries around the world. From the 55 papers, 33 papers were selected for oral presentation during the day of the event. The event had the presence of the rector of Aalborg University, the dean of the faculty, representatives of the sponsoring companies, authors of the technical papers and interested researchers.

February 2006

With the help and cooperation of all the IEEE student members @ AAU and support of IEEE Denmark section, interim committee sent the branch petition to the IEEE Headquarters on January 27, 2006. The inauguration of the branch and the election of the board for 2006 were held on February 8, 2006. The executive committee was elected on the inauguration day and a week later, three standing committees were formed.

The final approval of the from IEEE student services was received on February 28, 2006 .

December 2005

By December 2005, we had enough members on board. The first meeting was held on December 8, 2005. In this meeting, 24 IEEE student members were present. An interim committee of 6 members was selected based on everyone’s agreement. The goal for the interim committee was,

• To prepare the branch petition and forward it to the IEEE,

• To prepare a constitution for the student branch, and

• To arrange an election for a final committee at the latest by end of February 2006.

September 2005

The first activity of IEEE Student Branch @ Aalborg University (AAU) was started in September 2005. In the beginning, the goal was to gather enough members so that the branch can be formed.
