Strategy

The main research area of the group is centered around speech processing, in particular spoken language understanding, speech recognition and speech synthesis, and the integration of speech into multi modal user interfaces. Recently, the attention of the group has been targeted towards the integration of these interfaces into networked (wireless) environments. Here the emphasis is on two issues

  • the processing and transmission of speech signals in wireless networks
  • how spoken interaction can be integrated into the user interfaces on devices
    like mobile phones and PDAs.

The group has a long tradition for cross-disciplinary research and applied speech technology research for aiding disabled people
