I am a Professor (with Special Responsibilities) within the research section on Antennas, Propagation, and Radio Networking (APNET) at the Department of Electronic Systems.  My research interests are in the broad area of wireless communications and networks, including design and analysis of protocols mostly at the physical, MAC and link layers, but with awareness (and respect :) for the other layers of the protocol stack.  I am teaching courses and supervising Ph. D. students, master student project, undergraduate student projects. I am also involved in supervision of the Elite students in wireless communications, a program that admits the top students and guides them through a research-based education.

My research is concerned with various types of wireless networks: low-power networking, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication, cellular networks, relaying, passive (RFID) networks, cognitive radios. I am interested in communication-theoretic aspects, but also in designing of practical communication protocols. Two new topics of particualr interest are :
  • Ultra-reliable wireless communication and how to achieve that, under bad receiving conditions or excessive interference, the wireless connection stays alive even with a very low data rate.
  • Systems which transfer energy and information simultaneously. An example is an RFID system with passive tags.
